  Shunned by a pharisaic elder

  stopped in a local eatery this evening for their famous vegetarian enchilada casserole and there was a man in there, an elder in a local congregation who i was aquatinted with (he did some work for me at my home) and we know his wife.

  he was in the same congregation i was in for a time.. i went over to him to say hi and shake his hand and when i reached out he pulled his hand away so i looked over at his partner who was obviously a bible study and reached out to shake his hand and as i did i said to him the reason he wont shake my hand is that hes mad because i dont go to meetings anymore.

  i walked away and nothing else was said.. .

  whilst my parents were at the meeting yesterday i let myself in to their house to look through photos.

  i was looking for old family photos for a family gathering we are planning as a surprise for my folks.

  anyway, there were tons of pics of them at bethel visits throughout the world.

  What I always found fascinating about the African couples is that the same fabric is used for both the woman's and man's clothing. Since western style men's wear is so limited in style, you can't generally match the couples up based on their clothing. The closest you can come is matching the shirt and tie color to the the color of the sister's dress.

  How many people on here have low self-esteem?

  i do, so i was just curious.. i know the org tends to attract/cause/contribute to people having low self-esteem, so i figure a lot of people must have it as bad or worse than me..

  There's a difference between knowing that you are capable of doing well in school or doing well on the job and knowing/feeling that you are a good person, worthy of being loved and respected. I grew up with a huge measure of overconfidence in my academic abilities, but always feeling like I was basically trash as person. That's hard to overcome, even when you know it's not really rational.

  i always thought they were the most boring things i'd ever seen.

  a picture of someone preaching in a different land every month.. i always ended up hanging something far more entertaining, like an nfl calendar..

  Welfare Elders

  i had wanted to start this topic before but never had a chance.

  i'm sure it's been dealt with before so i apologize in advance for bringing up again.. .

  do you know of or ever know of elders who do the very minimum to work so that they can get the maximum child allowance, food stamps, medicaid etc?.

  As far as I know, none of the elders or servants in the hall I used to attend received any sort of government benefits. They all had regular, full time jobs or were retired after a standard full time career. There was one young brother who received disability payments, but it was justified in my opinion. There was a sister about my age who wanted to go on disability after her husband died and left her penniless, but she didn't get anywhere with that. She ended up moving to new Hampshire to live with her mother.

  OWWWWIE!!!! Plantar's wart.....

  kk, i've had a small plantar's wart on the bottom of my big toe for a looooooong time.. recently, it started getting bigger and more painful.

  i googled, and found a home remedy consisting of placing apple cider vinegar soaked cotton balls on the wart and covering it in duct tape.. can i just say......this f**cking hurts!!!!!.

  it's been almost a week, and it's turned black which means (i think.....i hope) that it's working.. extremely painful.....can barely walk....it throbs constantly....i have to get up in the night and deal with it.. anyone?.

  I had a corn or a wart or something on the bottom of my heel a while back. I used Dr Scholls corn remover pads for a few days until it turned white and I was able to peel it off. It was sore underneath for a couple of days, but it hasn't come back.

  Dealing with elders during my mom's surgery

  my mother has been working forwell over a year to have a gastric bypass and she finally got the ok from her doctor and insurance.

  the date is set for this coming friday.

  although, i'm not 100% sure this will happen because she was diagnosed with pneumonia and a partially collapsed lung this past week.
